WHAT IS YOGA AND WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF DOING IT REGULARLY

Yoga was originated in India. Yoga is a philosophy which was first developed in India, in which physical exercise, mental or meditation and spiritual practices or disciplines are believed to help people to become calmer and united in spirit with God.

Yoga is a type of exercise in which you move your body into various positions in order to become more fit or flexible, to improve your breathing and to relax your mind.

The original context of yoga was spiritual development practices to train the body and mind to self observe and become aware of their own nature. The purposes of yoga were to cultivate discernment, awareness, self-regulation and higher consciousness in the individual.

Yoga is a mind and body practice with a 5,000 year history in ancient Indian philosophy. Various styles of yoga combine physical postures, breathing techniques and meditation and relaxation.

Importance of yoga:
It brings together physical and mental disciplines to achieve a peaceful body and mind. It helps manage stress and anxiety and keeps you relaxing. It also helps in increasing flexibility, muscle strength and body tone. It improves respiration, energy and vitality. Yoga asanas build strength, flexibility and confidence.

Yoga has a diverse range of things that it can offer. It could be said that a primary goal of yoga is to gain balance and control in one's life. To free from confusion and distress. To provide a sense of calm that comes from the practice of yogic exercises and the practice of breath control.

Yoga a religion or a Philosophy:
The philosophy of yoga is an extension of it's psychology and practices. Yoga does not consider any particular religious belief as a requirement for the practice, and one does not need to forgo any faith to benefit from yoga. The only requirement is to uphold the values of ethics and inner peacefulness.

Yoga is amazing even if you only practice for 1 hour a week, you will experience the benefits of the practice. If you can do more than that, you will certainly experience more benefits. I suggest starting with two or three times a week, for an hour or an hour and a half each time.

Yoga has been found to improve quality of life, reduce stress, anxiety, insomnia, depression and back pain. It has also been found to lower heart rate and blood pressure. And perhaps not surprisingly, yoga has been shown to improve fitness, strength and flexibility.

A yoga practice is a weight bearing exercise, which means it will provide some benefits in muscular strength and bone density. If you have not done any strength training, yoga will probably start to increase your strength from the get-go. Specifically, yoga builds shoulder stability and hip stability. Active, intense styles of yoga help you burn the most calories. This may help prevent weight gain. Restorative yoga isn't a physical type of yoga, but it still helps in weight loss. Restorative yoga was effective in helping overweight women lose weight, including abdominal fat. There are no shortcuts to getting rid of abdominal fat but proper diet with good fitness routine can help reduce belly fat to a large extent. If you don't want to hit the gym then yoga is always an option. It not only helps decrease abdominal fat but also allows your body and mind to feel rejuvenated.

Yoga postures, known as asanas, help ease the physical discomfort that is caused by anxiety. There are many ways in which exercise benefits panic disorder, including a reduction in pain and stress. Yoga not only helps in easing the physical body, but it can help with anxious thoughts as well.

Yes, yoga asanas will tone the body, but they are more than just a way to lose weight as they concentrate on deeper aspects of effectively functioning muscle groups.

"Strong toned muscles at the core of your body support good health"

Yoga poses massage your digestive organs, increase blood flow and oxygen delivery, aid the process of peristalsis and encourage stools to move through your system. Doing yoga regularly can result in regular, healthy bowel movements.
